Modern / 1136 Fifth Avenue
A Manhattan couple commissioned the refreshing of their Fifth Avenue apartment to Marco Battistotti with the desire to modernize the conventional look of their apartment into a more modern and fresh look. Marco immediately advocated the acquisition of a sizeable abstract painting by Gijs Van Lith, a young artist that lives and works
in ’s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. The artwork set the tone to what is now becoming a young and hip Fifth Avenue apartment. Since the client was planning to spend more time in a warmer dwelling, the scope of work was limited to the Entrance Hall, the Living Room, the Den (now Media Room), the Master Suite with additional closets space, the Master Bathroom and the Kitchen. Some architectural work was suggested to enhance the existing vocabulary, such as adding crown mouldings and pediments to introduced and enhance the height of the ceiling and doorways. Mirrors were strategically placed around the rooms to boost the spaces, creating luminosity and setting the feeling of infinity. Added artwork, smart colors, modern lighting, innovative materials, slick furniture, chic rugs and elegant fabrics accomplished the assignment.
